Doug's 3G grandfather Samuel Hinkel (1821-81) married Rebecca Reedy (1829-79) and they lived in Berks County, Pa. probably Maidencreek or Richmond Townships as they are buried at St. Peter's "Beckers" Lutheran Church near Molltown & Fleetwood. Linda, in conjunction with another friend of ours (Wilma Carroll) has created a web page at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/4987/harman.html dedicated to
the memory of her father Howard Owens and all the men who work the coal mines.
On it they have posted a picture of miners in 1940 that worked at Harman Mines, in Harman, Virginia. They are going to try and identify the men in the picture. Her father is in the picture.
This web site also has the Coal Miner Memorial in front of U.S. Post Office in Clinchco Virginia.
