199. Photo Peter REEDY was born on 20 Jan 1817 in Grayson County, VA. He died about 1898 in Caney Ridge, Dickenson County, VA. He was buried in Big Ridge, Dickenson County, VA. Peter was born in Grayson County. Seven years after his marriage to Nancy Adams in Ashe County, NC, on March 20, 1840, they moved into Ashe County for a period of time. C. M. Reedy reports that he moved into the Dickenson-Wise County area about 1854 settling near Pound, VA, and later in the Clintwood area of Dickenson County about 1857. But grandson, Paris A. Mullins reports that he left Ashe County on Dec. 11 and arrived at Horse Gap near Pound on Dec. 18, 1857. He stayed there one year and moved around Clintwood in 1858. He later swapped his place to a Jim Thornbury for a place on the mounth of Caney Creek where he lived for 10-15 years finially settling on Caney Ridge where he died about the year 1898. He and Nancy are buried in unmarked graves on the John Kerr place on Big Ridge.

Peter was a good hand with tools and was a carpenter-cabinet maker. He operated a mill on Long Branch of the Cranesnerst River and was the first Postmaster of Flanary fron 1884 - 1888.

Peter REEDY and Nancy Jane ADAMS were married about 1840 in Grayson County, VA. Nancy Jane ADAMS (daughter of James ADAMS and Nancy WHITE) was born on 14 Mar 1820 in Ashe County, NC. She died in Caney Ridge, Dickenson County, VA. She was buried in Big Ridge, Dickenson County, VA. It is reported by C. M. Reedy, Ironton, OH by Negatha Powers of Bristol, VA. that Nancy was full or half Cherokee indian. Peter REEDY and Nancy Jane ADAMS had the following children:
